Illness Sidelnes Mark Tyson;
Mitch Hawk Named Interem Driver of Tyson Racing Chevy
(6/3/2014)- Under the care of a team of 3 physicians and
a head nurse, Mark Tyson, Driver/Owner of the #22 WARRANT – I Saw Red
and Firehouse Chevrolets, has recently undergone a battery of tests for
potentially serious conditions that will require mandatory treatment and
probable surgery in the very near future. It has been mandated that he
climb out of the driver's seat until a full recovery has been made and
receives physician clearance to return to the racetrack.
“I wasn’t feeling well at all for some time and the fatigue slowly got
worse. I’m stubborn and finally gave in when my wife begged me to go to
the doctor”, said Tyson Monday evening.
“Although I’d love to stay in the car and put this off as long as
possible, I not only have my health to worry about, but also my family,
who I need to put in front right now. Racing is for fun and man, I hate
to step away from the car but it’s definitely the right decision at this
time. Hopefully all goes well and Lord willing, I’ll be back behind the
wheel in no time at all”.
Tyson isn’t only dedicated to the sport, but also to his sponsors,
supporters and fans, which include Catalyst Physical Therapy, Municipal
Valve & Equipment, Valve Tech Sales, WARRANT, FireHouse and Erik Turner
Wines.
“Not having the #22 on the track would break my heart, with or without
me driving it”, he said.
“That’s why I asked my Dirty South Posse Teammate and Crew Chief, Mitch
Hawk to step in as interim driver for selected races. Mitch is a great
guy, has done a lot for me over the years and won last years
championship at Evergreen raceway Park last season- he’ll do just fine”.
If you’re worried about Tyson not being at the track, put those worries
away, as he’ll continue, as he is able, to put a headset on and flip
roles as the Owner/Crew Chief for #22 Chevy Impala and in doing so, try
to get Mitch into Victory Lane.
