Mark Tyson Rebounds For Third Place Finish
(August 3, 2013)- In his #22 WARRANT – I Saw Red Pontiac Grand Prix,
Mark Tyson of Horsham, PA finsished second in his qualifying event,
which gave him the outside ole position in the 30-lap main event
Saturday night at Mountain Speedway.
Riley Moczulski led the to the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap
feature and was overtaken by Mark Tyson before a lap was complete. Mitch
Hawk ran in third, followed by Travis Fisher and Glenn Slocum.
Fisher moved to third and then with two laps complete, he grabbed
second from Moczulski. One lap later he took the top spot from Tyson and
began to set sail.
The yellow flag waved on lap 11 when Tyson spun on the backstretch.
Green flag racing resumed and Hawk, who ran in the second spot, lined up
along side the leader for the restart. Once again, Fisher set sail on
the restart and Hawk settled in.
Following a yellow with 10 laps remaining, Travis continued to show
the way over Hawk, Slocum, Moczulski and Tyson, but that all changed
after Moczulski moved to third and then challenged Hawk for second. The
pair swapped paint several times before getting together in turn four
with fiver laps remaining.
The final five laps were caution-free and Fisher grabbed the victory.
Hawk settled for second, followed by Tyson, Slocum and Moczulski.
“We’re getting there and the car worked really well tonight”, noted
Tyson, who sits second in the series’ standings.
“There’s been a learning curve with the backup car that we’ve been
driving, but it’s pretty good for an old beast and I’m just glad to take
it home in one piece with another top five for all of our supporters,
which of course, ROCK.”
