Mark Tyson Earns Another Top 5 Finish
(May 5, 2013)- Mark Tyson grabbed the lead in his qualifying race Sunday at Mountain Speedway but was spun from contention before the end of the race. Without major damage, he began the 30-lap main event from the outside pole in his #22 WARRANT I Saw Red Chevy Impala.
Jim Lamoreaux started from the pole and led the opening circuit over Kyle Harvell, Dave Brigati, Tyson and Frank Hughes. With three laps complete, Brigati overtook Harvell for second and set his sights on the leader.
With Lamoreaux still in command, the yellow flag flew on lap nine when Tyson looped his ride in turn two. Following the restart, Riley Moczulski got by Hughes to take fifth.
Brigati stayed with the leader and the duo battled hard for the lead. Meanwhile, Harvell settled into third and took in the show that took place ahead of him. Eventually Brigati took the lead with nine laps remaining and two laps later Harvell moved by Lamoreaux for second.
Harvell pulled to the back bumper of Brigati and let him know that he was there. With four laps remaining, Harvell made his move to the bottom and moved to the lead when Brigati was forced to give up the spot.
Harvell went on to take the checkers over Brigati for his first win of the season. Lamoreaux settled for third. Moczulski finished in fourth and Tyson rebounded for fifth.
